Ernakulam: A probe report by the Ernakulam Maradu Police into allegations against the producers of 'Manjummel Boys' suggests their involvement in financial trickery.
The investigation was initiated after Siraj Valiyaveettil, an Alappuzha native who had invested 7 crore rupees in the film's production, lodged a complaint alleging that he was left empty-handed despite the movie's huge success. The probe now reveals serious allegations against producers Soubin Shahir, Babu Shahir, and Shawn Antony.
The report, submitted to the High Court, details the investigation process, which included gathering statements from the complainant and examining bank documents. Based on this, the investigation team concluded that the producers were involved in financial fraud.
Siraj claims he invested 7 crore assuming the total expense of the movie to be 22 crore rupees, only to discover later that it was actually 18.65 crore rupees. He further alleges that the accused misled him by claiming that the first schedule of the film had been completed even before shooting commenced.
Despite being promised a 40 percent profit share, Siraj has not received any payment from the producers, resulting in an alleged loss of 47 crores. The investigation highlights discrepancies between the filmmakers' claims and bank records, indicating deliberate theft by the Parava Film Company.
