Indian 2 box office: Kamal Haasan's film surpasses Akshay Kumar's Sarfira

Kamal Haasan's latest release, "Indian 2," has outperformed Akshay Kumar's "Sarfira" at the box office, accumulating a total of Rs 42.30 crore by the end of its second day.

Despite facing critical backlash and mixed audience reactions, the film's success can be attributed largely to Kamal Haasan's star power.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, "Indian 2" collected Rs 16.7 crore on Saturday.

Breaking it down, the Tamil version of the film brought in Rs 13 crore, the Hindi version earned Rs 1.2 crore, and the Telugu version contributed Rs 2.5 crore. This follows an opening day collection of Rs 25.6 crore. However, there was a noticeable decline in revenue from the Tamil and Telugu markets on the second day, while the Hindi version's earnings remained steady.

In contrast, Akshay Kumar's "Sarfira," despite receiving positive reviews, has struggled to attract significant audience numbers. The film's box office collection saw a slight increase on Saturday, but it still managed to bring in less than Rs 7 crore on its second day.

"Indian 2," which also stars Rakul Preet Singh and Siddharth, is the sequel to Shankar's 1996 classic "Indian." Kamal Haasan reprises his iconic role of Senapathy in this latest installment.
