As the latest entrant in the Monster Universe and with much hype surrounding the previously-released trailers, Adam Wingard's 'Godzilla vs Kong' has dominated the Indian box office by becoming the highest-grossing foreign film by raking in around 35 crores, seven days after its release. The lack of some major Bollywood film releases has also propelled 'Godzilla vs Kong' to the front of the box office race.
The flashy action film is projected to eclipse the earnings of Christopher Nolan's big-budget time-travel thriller 'Tenet', which was released in November and had grossed 36 crores at the Indian box office. Considering the pandemic restrictions in place and lack of theatre occcupancy, 'Godzilla vs Kong' has done extraordinarily well with more screenings than any other movies currently.
The film has already netted $4.9 million from Indian viewers and almost $25 million from South-East Asian collections alone. It released alongside John Abraham-Emraan Hashmi starrer 'Mumbai Saga' and Parineeti Chopra's 'Saina', both of which have earned mediocre collections.
