Alia Bhatt to haters after success of Gangubai Kathiawadi, "If you don't like me, don't watch me'

Alia Bhatt, a Bollywood actor and the daughter of actor Soni Razdan and director Mahesh Bhatt, has frequently been asked about nepotism. The performer has since stated that she would rather let her work speak for itself, the Indian Express reported.

When Alia was criticised for being a product of nepotism, she stated in an interview with Mid-Day, that she felt horrible and wondered, "Why is this happening for no reason?" But she ultimately decided to let her work speak for itself. She said, "I can't keep defending myself verbally. And if you don't like me, don't watch me. I can't help it. People have something to say. Hopefully, I will prove to them with my movies that I am actually worth the space I occupy."

As she basked in the triumph of her well-received performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi (and Netflix's Darlings), Alia exuded confidence and thought that she had silenced her critics with the film and was getting the "final laugh," at least until she "delivers a failure."

The actor added that it was not her fault she was born into a family in the film business. She questioned, "How can I control where I am born, Bhai?" and added that if her children wanted to pursue a career in acting, they would need to put in a lot of effort to demonstrate their talent.

Alia Bhatt and her husband Ranbir Kapoor are expecting their first child. She most recently appeared in Darlings, a drama in which she played a victim of domestic abuse.
