Kannada actor Dhanush Raj and his wife Arshita are embroiled in a legal dispute after both lodged police complaints against each other, making serious and conflicting allegations.
According to reports, Dhanush was the first to approach the police, accusing Arshita of assaulting him, harassing him and issuing threats to his life. Arshita later filed a counter-complaint at the same police station, accusing her husband of dowry harassment, physical violence and emotional abuse.
As per media reports, Dhanush told the police that the dispute began after Arshita travelled abroad without informing him. He alleged that she became violent when he questioned her about the trip. He further claimed that she threatened to send hired attackers to harm him and warned that she could kill herself and falsely implicate him, Indian Express reported.
Dhanush also alleged that on one occasion Arshita deliberately injured herself by striking her hand against a glass panel in the bathroom. He stated that he had been subjected to repeated harassment and intimidation over a prolonged period.
Based on his complaint, the Girinagar police in Bengaluru registered an FIR and initiated an investigation.
In her complaint, Arshita accused Dhanush of demanding dowry and subjecting her to physical and emotional abuse. She told the police that the couple were married on March 2, 2025, in Uttarahalli, Bengaluru, and that her family had gifted Dhanush around 50 grams of gold jewellery at the time of the wedding. She said she later moved into his house in Hosakerehalli and initially shared cordial relations with him and his family.
Arshita alleged that over time, the attitude of her husband and in-laws changed and they began demanding an additional dowry of ₹8 lakh. She claimed that when she told them her parents could not meet the demand, she was verbally abused and humiliated.
She also accused Dhanush, who has acted in the film Shivaji Surathkal, of having an extramarital relationship. According to her complaint, he assaulted her when she confronted him about the alleged infidelity and later sent her back to her parental home, an issue that was subsequently discussed and resolved at a panchayat. She further claimed that after travelling to Ahmedabad for work in November 2025, Dhanush stopped responding to her calls and messages.
