BJP MLAs "gift" Kejriwal five autorickshaws

New Delhi: Delhi BJP MLAs "gifted" Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal five autorickshaws on Thursday after he had an argument with a Gujarat Police officer when he was stopped from travelling in an autorickshaw, PTI reported.

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri claimed that Kejriwal staged a drama in Gujarat, trying to travel in a three-wheeler when he had a convoy of 27 vehicles. He said so when the BJP MLAs reached Kejriwal's residence at Flagstaff Road.

On September 2, Kejriwal had dinner at an auto driver's house in Ahmedabad. This was during his two-day visit to Gujarat. The auto driver had picked up the Delhi CM from his five-star hotel stay.

However, police personnel, who was deployed as Kejriwal's security, intervened, trying to stop the autorickshaw and a heated argument went on. Kejriwal told the officer that he did not want their security and that he should be allowed to travel in the autorickshaw for dinner.

Later, the officer sat along with the driver, and the rickshaw was escorted by two police vehicles.

Aiming a jab at Kejriwal, Bidhuri said on Thursday, "He has a convoy of 27 vehicles and 200 security personnel have been deployed for his security and yet he enacted a drama by insisting on travelling in an autorickshaw in Gujarat. So, we are gifting him these autos to fulfil his wish of travelling in three-wheelers in Delhi."

"One autorickshaw will serve as a pilot, one with the tricolour is for the chief minister, another two are for those who will escort him, and one is for his private secretary," the BJP leader mocked Kejriwal.
