We are fighting Nazis: Former Israel PM Bennett tells TV presenter

New Delhi: Former Israel Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on a TV show justified Israel’s denial of food and life support systems to Gaza saying his country is ‘fighting Nazis’.

Bennett, who was Prime Minister between June 2021 and June 2022, said that he is not going to feed the enemy, when the presenter for SkyNews asked Bennett about Gaza’s increasing humanitarian crisis.

The continuing offensive by Israel has literally left Gaza in dark with no power, health care facilities such as life support systems and incubators for newborns.

When Kamali Melbourne asked about this deplorable situation, Bennett said ‘Are you serious? You keep on asking me about Palestinian civilians. What's wrong with you? Have you not seen what happened? We are fighting Nazis. We didn't target them.’

Following Hamas attack on Israel Saturday, killing 1,200 people and taking hostage hundreds, Israel hit back with rockets and bombs alongside cutting basic supplies to the area.

Bennett vehemently further responded to the question, saying ‘The world can come and bring them anything they want. I am not going to feed electricity or water to my enemies. We are not responsible for this.’

There ensued an argument between the former Israel Prime Minister and TV presenter Kamali Melbourne with the presenter saying ‘This is my show and I am asking the questions. You are raising your voice.’

In response to this, Bennett kept saying ‘Shame on you’, alongside accusing him of pushing a ‘false narrative’.

Melbourne made it clear that he was not in the military but a journalist asking questions, adding that ‘We have already distinguished between Hamas and Palestinians’.

‘I am asking you what is going to be done to make sure those innocent people don't get killed as innocent Jewish people were killed on Saturday," Melbourne was quoted as saying.

Bennett replied that Israel is targeting Hamas, and adding ‘We are telling Hamas, if you use anyone as your human shield and shoot at us, it's your responsibility’.

Bennett, who is a former commando in Israel Defense Forces, joined reserve duty on the frontlines, according to reports.
