Washington: The United States President Joe Biden announced his intentions to nominate India origin Shefali Razdan Duggal as his envoy to the Netherlands, PTI reported.

The White House (WH) made the announcement on Friday about Razdan, an immigrant from Kashmir and brought up in Cincinnati, Chicago, New York and Boston.

WH said that Razdan, a mother of two, is an experienced political activist as well as a women's rights advocate and human rights campaigner. Razdan is a former Presidential Appointee to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Council and serves as a Western Regional Advisor.

Further, she is a San Francisco Committee member of Human Rights Watch, a member of the Wake Forest University Leadership and Character Council and was on the National Board of Directors for Emily's List.

A graduate in Political Communication from New York University, Razdan also studied Mass Communication at Miami University, it said.

WH said that she had received many civic awards, including the Western Regional Leadership Award by the US Holocaust Memorial Museum Community Hero by California State Assembly and had become one of the Most Powerful Women in California. The last was received from the National Diversity Council. She had served as National Co-Chair of Women for Biden, and as a Deputy National Finance Chair at the Democratic National Committee, the WH said.

In 2008, Razdan worked for Barak Obama's Presidential campaign and later for Hillary Clinton's. In the latter, she was a member of the Northern California Steering Committee and the Women for Hillary Committee.
