Islamabad: A special meeting held in Pakistan, which hosted the (OIC), resolved to form a fund to help Afghanistan from impending crisis. The OIC passed a 31-point resolution and decided to work with the UN to unfreeze many million dollars of Afghan's assets.

The meeting was also attended by delegates from the United Nations, European Union, United States, China and Russia as well as the Taliban's representative, Arab News reported. However, the resolution has not specified a figure regarding the funds they pledge to raise.

The biggest conference on Afghanistan posts the Taliban's takeover of Kabul decided to release funds through the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) so that the world could donate without directly dealing with the Taliban, as the globe has not formally recognised the extremists' administration. The latest meeting also did not serve the Taliban the recognition.

In the meeting, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan called for the United States to drop its conditions, release its funds for the Afghan, and restart the banks there.

But the UN undersecretary for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, Martin Griffiths, said that donations alone could not help Afghanistan. The Taliban must be made to understand what the world expects from it as rulers of a population.

Against its own promises of becoming liberal, the Taliban is not allowing women into government employment. Many women employers are banned from working in many provinces, and girl students from secondary level are barred from schooling.

The OIC decided to arrange a team of Muslim scholars for talks with the Taliban regarding various subjects, including educating and liberating women and granting them their rights. It urged the Taliban to abide by international human rights laws regarding women, minorities, sick, differently-abled etc.
