Missing dog in US travels 2000 miles away from home, finally found
text_fieldsWashington, United States: A stray dog found in midwestern state of Michigan turned out to be the one that went missing in California more than 2000 miles away, news agency AFP reported.
Police picked up the dog named Miskha from near Harper Woods in suburban Detroit after residents reported a stray dog.
The terrier-mix, who vanished last July, had a microchip which helped authorities identify her owners 2,343 miles away in San Diego.
It remains a mystery how the dog travelled so far.
The Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society (GPAAS) said the dog’s owner Mehrad Houman and his family happened to be on vacation in Minneapolis at the time dog was found.
It takes 10 hours from Minneapolis to reach the shelter where the Mishka is however it is still shorter than from California.
The photos and videos of the dog shared on social media showed it a ‘a scraggly, small, white-haired dog, wagging her tail as she was reunited with her owners.’
Miksha will fly back home California after veterinarian checked her.
GPAAS in a Facebook post said that finding of the dog is a ‘tale that Hollywood would love to tell’.
