Israel arrests Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi for allegedly ‘inciting terrorism’
text_fieldsJERUSALEM: The Israeli army on Monday said that it had arrested prominent Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi during a raid in West Bank for allegedly ‘inciting terrorism’.
“Ahed Tamimi was arrested on suspicion of inciting violence and terrorist activities in the town of Nabi Salih” near the city of Ramallah, an army spokesman reportedly said.
“Tamimi was transferred to Israeli security forces for further questioning,” he added.
Another report claimed Tamimi’s father was also arrested by Israeli forces last week.
The 22-year-old activist, who has become an international symbol of resistance against Israel’s occupation in the West Bank, gained attention after she was filmed biting a masked Israeli soldier to prevent him from arresting her little brother.
Another video of Tamimi as an 11-year-old went viral in 2012 which showed her attempting to intervene in her mother and elder brother’s arrest.
