Iranian authorities are not yet ready to go easy on those protesting against the custodial death of Mahsa Amini a couple of months ago.

Alongside cracking down on protesters with brutal force, authorities have now turned to control some of the nation's brilliant minds.

As part of it, filmmaker Reza Dormishian has been barred from attending the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

Dormishian's movie 'A Minor' was screened on Thursday and Friday in the competition but the director has not been given permission to travel to India.

The filmmaker is the latest to face the anger of the authorities due to his anti-regime opinions, Verity reported.

The movie" A Minor" could fuel debate on the restrictive laws in Iran that led to the death of Mahsa Amini.

The movie tells the story of a woman who is struggling between her free-thinking daughter, who wants to study music, and her conservative husband.

It is not yet known if the filmmaker is in detention with sources confirming that he "was referred to the court of law for prosecution", according to a report by ANI.

Dormishian has been highly critical of the Iranian government on social media for the past few weeks.

He shared on Instagram various posts showing support for the significant developments, according to sources close to him.

The Iranian government has long been targeting the nation's highly acclaimed film industry.

Filmmakers Mohammad Rosoulof and Mostafa Al-Ahmad were detained in July for issuing statement on social media against the government.

After Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini was allegedly killed in police custody in September, Iran has been in upheaval.
