Dhaka: Bangladesh has mandated the indefinite closure of all high schools, Islamic seminaries, and vocational institutes across the country in response to violent student protests that resulted in at least six fatalities.

Education Ministry spokesperson M. A. Khair announced the decision, emphasizing the need to ensure student safety amid the unrest. "All high schools, colleges, Islamic seminaries, and polytechnic institutes will remain closed until further notice, considering the security of the students," Khair told AFP on Tuesday.

The move comes after escalating protests turned deadly, prompting the government to take stringent measures to prevent further violence and protect the student body.
