Leaked information from WhatsApp Beta Info has suggested that the messaging platform is testing out a new variety of editing tools like blurring and drawing tools that will be added to Android and iOS user experience soon. The changes are available on the new WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.3.5 update.

The most significant of these is a new 'blur' option that would allow users to blur parts of their photos or screenshots which could help protect privacy, the report by WhatsApp Beta Info claimed.

The blur tool would be a valuable addition for users when the crop tool is not enough to remove unwanted parts of the image, the report said. Since the feature is not currently available, users usually resort to third-party apps for the same whereas the speculated update could introduce such privacy-protection onto it's native platform.

The Meta-owned messaging app also has plans to release a new set of drawing tools that will allow users to select the size of the drawing tool instead of just being able to choose the colour, the report said. Until now, WhatsApp users could only use one type of brush, but with the new beta they will be able to access two new additional brushes that expand the possibilities to three.

Both features are not yet available for beta testing on iOS or Android, which is the usual process before releasing new updates to the stable version of the app.

Separately, WhatsApp for Desktop is receiving new chat bubble colours. The desktop app will be receiving a new dark blue colour and is only visible while using the dark theme mode. WhatsApp is also testing a new emoji message reactions information tab as well as new settings for message reactions notification.

Another report by WABetaInfo mentions that the instant messaging app is bringing new colour to its Windows and macOS apps with WhatsApp beta for Desktop 2.2201.2.0 update. The new colour scheme will reportedly be visible in the dark theme and the chat bubbles seem to be greener compared to the existing colour.
