Bengaluru: An agency linked to the government has urged all Apple product users in India to update their devices, The Indian Express reported.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), which is part of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, issued the ‘high’ severity warning to users about software vulnerabilities on iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

The software vulnerabilities, according to CERT-In, could lead to hackers easily targeting these devices, stealing their sensitive information.

CERT-In suggested users of Apple products to update devices to latest their latest version.

Here is a list of products reportedly being affected, ensure that your devices does not include this:

iOS and iPadOS versions prior to 17.6 and 16.7.9 (iPhones and iPads)

macOS Sonoma versions prior to 14.6 (Macs)

macOS Ventura versions prior to 13.6.8 (Macs)

macOS Monterey versions prior to 12.7.6 (Macs)

watchOS versions prior to 10.6 (Apple Watch)

tvOS versions prior to 17.6 (Apple TV)

visionOS versions prior to 1.3 (Vision Pro)

Safari versions prior to 17.6 (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro).

Users have to brace for issues like ‘sensitive information disclosure, denial of service, security bypass, spoofing attacks, arbitrary code execution, and cross-site scripting-related problems,’ according to The Indian Express.

Those using the latest version of these devices will not experience any issue, as Apple has reportedly managed these vulnerabilities with the latest security update.

However, if you are still lagging behind in updating, it is about time you did it, according to the report.

Meanwhile, Apple has issued alerts to high profile individual including politicians, journalists and government officials in over 150 countries including India about ‘mercenary spyware attacks’.
