Google, Microsoft and many up for India against Covid surge

Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella assured their help for India against the Covid19 battle as the crisis blasted suddenly, leaving the country unbearably low in supplies and hospitals overflowing with patients.

Sundar Pichai tweeted that "Google and Googlers" will provide Rs 135 crores funding for medical supplies, supporting high-risk communities and grants to help spread critical information about the contagious virus.

"Devastated to see the worsening Covid crisis in India," Pichai tweeted.

Satya Nadella tweeted, "I am heartbroken by the current situation in India. Microsoft will continue to use its voice, resources, and technology to aid relief efforts and support the purchase of critical oxygen concentration devices." He also thanked the United States government for assuring help to India.

Many, including the US, UK, Denmark and European Union, offered help for India as the country staggers under mounting caseload every day, which reached nearly 3.5 lakhs on Sunday, and shortage of hospital beds and oxygen supply rests at its peak.

"Just as India sent assistance to the United States as our hospitals were strained early in the pandemic, we are determined to help India in its time of need," the US president Joe Biden said in a tweet, while Vice president Kamala Harris tweeted, "As we provide assistance, we pray for the people of India -including its courageous healthcare workers."

British prime minister Borris Johnson promised to send lifesaving medical equipment, including ventilators and oxygen concentrator, in his tweet. He added that the UK is with India against the Covid battle.

Amazon, the online retailer giant, had already joined various industry partners and NGOs working on procuring and airlifting supplies for India.
