Brightly flashing X sign removed from Twitter headquarters after complaints
text_fieldsSan Francisco: The ‘X’ sign, placed on top of Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters, was removed after residents in the neigbourhood complained of ‘intrusive lights’.
Since flashy X sign appeared on Friday, the city building department has received 24 complaints, prompting authorities to issue a violation notice over permit, Wall Street Journal reported.
The luminously radiating X sign was standing on top of the building on Mark Street, when it didn’t go down well with some of its residents.
Earlier Musk, who acquired Twitter in October for $44 billion, replaced Twitter’s proverbial sign of a bird with ‘X’.
Musk recently said the platform would continue headquartered in San Francisco despite city's recent ‘doom spiral, with one company after another left or leaving.’
‘Beautiful San Francisco, though others forsake you, we will always be your friend’, Musk was quoted as writing.
But his brightly flashing ‘X’ sign could not continue shower light into the neighourhood.
While many complained of disturbance from the lights, some pointed out safety concerns as they thought the sign was not safely fitted onto the roof, AFP reported.
Patrick Hannan, a top official from San Francisco's Department of Building Inspection and City Planning, said ‘this morning, building inspectors observed the structure being dismantled’.
Many X users came out questioning the X sign with one saying it was ‘right across from your bedroom.’
Another user expressed concern about the ‘the flagrant lack of consideration for anyone ever.’
