California: Around 30,000 employees fear an imminent job inside the tech giant Google as more advanced AIs (Artificial Intelligence) are arriving at the company, Android Headlines reported.

However, the news portal adds that the news is still a developing story and more information is awaited from Google.

In the technology race, AIs are becoming more and more able to automate more and more tasks.

The massive Google has an enormous ad sales division where more than 30,000 employees work. It is heard that the company is looking for AIs to boost its ad sales and increase productivity internally.

Though AI is not as smart as humans, it can perform tasks much faster than a human. Therefore, the company's switch to AI is putting employees in fear. Last year, the company had made large job cuts, laying off around 12,000 employees.

It is learned that Google has notified that it is going to reorganise its ads sales business. Though that does not directly mean job cuts, words like "reorganising" and "restructuring" implied the same, and the words were used as a sugar coating to the harsh facts.

A report by The Information suggests that 45 percent of the 30,000 employees in ad sales are working on projects simplified by AIs, meaning around half of the workforce working in the department could lose their jobs if AI takes over.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently said that the massive layoff of employees in 2022 was necessary for the company. However, he acknowledged that the layoff had a toll on affected employees, NDTV reported.

Defending the company's decision, Pichai said that the cutting of 12,000 jobs was inevitable, and it had backed the company in navigating over economic shifts and adjusting its course for future growth. The mentioned layoffs were around 6 per cent of the company's total workforce.
