When leaders from the ruling government, including the then Chief Minister and other ministers, were blocked by the Araya Samajam, and police intervention proved futile, Prof. K.A. Siddique Hassan, the Kerala Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, stepped forward to speak with the Samajam leaders, who received assurances from him that he would strive to get their legitimate demands addressed.
