Tokyo: Indian men's hockey team ends the 41 years of medal drought after a 5-4 victory against Germany. After Moscow Olympics in 1980, Indian never managed to win a medal again.

Simranjeet Singh (17th, 34th minutes) scored a brace, while Hardik Singh (27th), Harmanpreet Singh (29th) and Rupinder Pal Singh (31st) were the other goal-getters for world no.3 India.

This is the 12th medal for the Indian men's hockey team (eight gold, one silver and three bronze) at the Olympics, which makes it the sole best-performing nation in history.
