Indian badminton star Lakshya Sen advanced to the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Indonesia Open Super 1000 tournament with a decisive victory over Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto, amid a challenging day for other Indian players.

Lakshya Sen was the standout performer for India at the Indonesia Open Super 1000 tournament, securing a spot in the men's singles quarterfinals with a commanding win over Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto. Sen breezed through his pre-quarterfinal match in Jakarta on Thursday, winning 21-9, 21-15.

While Sen's performance brought some cheer, it was a tough day for other Indian shuttlers. In the women’s doubles, the pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand narrowly lost to Japan’s Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara. The closely contested match ended 21-19, 19-21, 19-21, knocking the Indian duo out of the tournament.

Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa also exited in the women's doubles after being defeated by South Korea’s Ha Na Baek and So-Hee Lee. The match concluded with scores of 21-13, 19-21, 21-13, ending India's campaign in this category.

In mixed doubles, the Indian pair of B Sumeeth Reddy and Sikki Reddy faced a tough challenge against China’s Siwei Zheng and Yaqiong Huang. The Chinese duo dominated the match, winning 21-9, 21-11.

In the men's singles, Priyansh Rajawat put up a valiant fight against Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn, the reigning world champion. Despite his efforts, Rajawat lost 10-21, 17-21. After a one-sided first game, Rajawat showed resilience in the second, staying close to his opponent until 17-15. However, Vitidsarn secured the remaining points to clinch the match.
