FIFA takes strong action on Blasters, East Bengal for unpaid wages to players

Indian Super League (ISL) clubs Kerala Blasters FC and SC East Bengal have been banned by FIFA from signing players from the coming transfer window.. The move comes after receiving complaints about unpaid wages by the clubs.

According to a report by The Hindu, the list includes Kerala Blasters, East Bengal and Churchill (I-League). The report quoted Kushal Das, AIFF general secretary as saying that the issue of only making the payment (to players),"

The report also quoted Kushal as saying that.once the payment is made, the ban will be lifted

FIFA comes into action only when players complain about violation of terms of their contract by clubs. "They have specified the foreign player (who has complained to FIFA)," the report quoted Kushal saying

The report further says that it is its former Slovenian striker Matej Poplatnik , who complained against Kerala Blasters. Meanwhile, in a statement Blasters clarified that it has taken action on the issue.

"The Kerala Blasters can confirm that all necessary actions have been taken to clear pending obligations with respect to the transfer ban imposed by FIFA on the club," the statement said

"The club expects to have the required clearance in due time. Further, the club assures all its fans that the ban will not affect the ongoing recruitment of players and preparations for the upcoming season."
