Dubai: The Dubai Department of Education has announced that it will be easing Covid-19 restrictions on schools in the context of the ongoing pandemic. From Monday, the Dubai no Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has approved the functioning of extracurricular activities, physical education classes, study tours and events.

The KHDA thanked parents, educators and students for their unwavering cooperation and support in a tweet where they announced the new measures.

Institutional canteens and dining areas are also allowed to open. The directive applies to all private schools, universities and preschools in the emirate. Meanwhile, all children in Abu Dhabi schools will start attending classes directly from Monday. Offline classes were begun in half of the schools in the city last week.

Education authorities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi had announced a phased return of pupils at all public schools nationwide. Such activities were suspended start of the term as a precautionary measure, amid a surge in Covid-19 infections across the country.
