Dubai: With the extreme rise in temperatures during the summer months, motorists in the UAE face an increased risk of accidents. Tyre bursts and fire incidents are particularly common and can lead to fatal outcomes. To address this, Dubai Police, in collaboration with AutoPro centres, is offering a free car inspection service for all private car owners until the end of August.

Motorists can visit any AutoPro centre across the UAE to benefit from the service, which includes ten vital vehicle health checks:

• AC and air filter

• Seat belts condition

• Wiper blades condition

• Windshield washer fluid

• Radiator hose condition

• Battery health

• Engine oil and coolant level

• Tyres pressure condition

• Fluids level

• Lights

This initiative is part of Dubai Police's 'Summer Without Accidents' campaign, led by the General Department of Traffic. Enhanced traffic awareness efforts are being made to educate drivers on maintaining their vehicles. A field team from the Traffic Education Department has been actively informing drivers about tyre validity and efficiency. They emphasize the importance of regular vehicle check-ups to prevent accidents.

Key safety tips issued by Dubai Police include:

• Ensuring tyre validity and checking for vibrations

• Regularly inspecting tyres for cracks and bulges

• Changing engine oil frequently

• Monitoring for fluid leaks

Traffic accidents remain a significant concern for law enforcement, leading to fatalities, injuries and material losses. Recently, Abu Dhabi police also warned motorists about tyre bursts after recording 22 traffic accidents in 2023.

They highlighted six items that are susceptible to catching fire if left in a car during the hot months. This include:

• Compressed packages

• Batteries

• Energy storage devices

• Hand sanitizer

• Perfumes

• Gas cylinders

• Lighters

These comprehensive measures aim to reduce the risk of accidents and ensure motorists' safety during the challenging summer conditions.
