Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has announced the open call for submissions to the Al Marmoom Short-Film Competition, part of the fourth edition of the Al Marmoom: Film in the Desert festival. The competition is open to emerging filmmakers worldwide, with applications accepted from August 14 to September 30.

The competition includes four categories: documentaries, animated films, live-action and AI-generated films. Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of experts, with the winners announced during the festival, held at Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve from January 3 to 12, 2025.

The festival aims to support and inspire new talent, offering a platform for filmmakers to share their work and gain recognition. The event also features film screenings, workshops, and talks, contributing to the growth of the film industry in the region.

The previous edition showcased over 70 films and hosted a range of activities, solidifying the festival’s role as a key event for emerging filmmakers.
