Abu Dhabi Police warn motorists against leaving cars running unattended

Abu Dhabi Police have warned motorists not to leave their vehicles running while stepping away for shopping, fuel stops, ATM use or prayers.
The Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrols urged drivers to switch off engines and remove keys whenever leaving a vehicle, even for a short time.
Police said leaving vehicles unattended with engines running creates opportunities for theft and can also increase the risk of mechanical faults, fires and other safety hazards.
The force also warned against leaving children, especially infants, inside running vehicles, describing it as a serious safety risk.
Abu Dhabi Police reminded motorists that UAE traffic regulations prohibit leaving a vehicle unattended while the engine is running.
Under the Federal Traffic Law, violations linked to failing to comply with traffic signs and instructions carry a Dh500 fine.
