The Indian Embassy in Riyadh hosted the 76th Indian Republic Day celebrations on Sunday. The event, held at the Cultural Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter, brought together Indian and Saudi communities to honour the shared history and culture of the two nations.

Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Mayor of Riyadh Region, attended the ceremony on behalf of Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region. The celebration featured a captivating cultural show marking India’s rich heritage and was highlighted by warm interactions as Ambassador Suhel Ajaz Khan and Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Abu Mathen George personally greeted the guests.

During the event, Ambassador Khan stressed the deep cultural connections between Saudi Arabia and India.

“A shared love for culture brings our countries together. From Bollywood cinema to yoga, music, and food, we have continued to be inspired by each other", he said.

Ambassador Khan also highlighted India’s participation in the Global Harmony Initiative, a key component of Riyadh Season 2024, which celebrated expatriate cultures in Saudi Arabia.

“We were delighted to participate in the annual Riyadh Season 2024 under the Global Harmony Initiative of the Saudi government,” he added.

The Global Harmony Initiative, a collaboration between the Quality of Life Program, the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), and the Saudi Ministry of Media, aligns with Vision 2030 and aims to promote cultural diversity and inclusion. In October 2024, the initiative celebrated Indian heritage at Al-Suwaidi Park, showcasing the nation’s traditions and contributions to global culture.

The celebration of India’s 76th Republic Day in Riyadh emphasized the enduring friendship between the two nations, strengthened by mutual cultural appreciation and collaboration.
