Dubai entrepreneur pledges to provide 500k Iftar meals for labourers
text_fieldsDubai: In a heartwarming display of compassion and solidarity, an entrepreneur in Dubai has joined forces with thousands of volunteers to provide more than 500,000 iftar meals to labourers during the holy month of Ramadan.
The primary vehicle for this noble endeavour is the non-profit organization, The Giving Family. Led by its founder, Fadie Musallet, the organization has mobilized resources and volunteers to distribute iftar meals to blue-collar workers residing in labour accommodation in Al Quoz Industrial Area 1.
The success of this initiative rests on the collective contributions of individuals, charity organizations, restaurants and private-sector companies. Through the facilitation of Beit Al Khair Society, generous donations have poured in to fund the provision of free meals to low-income workers, exemplifying the spirit of philanthropy and social responsibility.
Each iftar meal, priced at Dh7 ($1.91), comprises chicken biryani, a carton of juice and three dates.
In just two days, The Giving Family has distributed over 17,000 free meals, bringing smiles and nourishment to the faces of labourers tirelessly contributing to the development of the city. Founder Fadie Musallet aims to escalate this effort by doubling the number of distributed meals to 500,000, demonstrating a commitment to making a tangible difference in the community.
Inspired by the 1 Billion Meals campaign spearheaded by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, Fadie Musallet is driven to amplify the impact of his initiative. With the support of 5,000 volunteers, he aspires to surpass last year's milestone and extend the reach of goodwill to even more individuals in need.
The Giving Family welcomes individuals from all walks of life to participate in this meaningful initiative. With a simple process of checking the organization's Instagram for distribution plans and timing, volunteers can lend their helping hands to make a difference in the lives of labourers during Ramadan.
Ramadan is synonymous with acts of charity and kindness, with Muslims worldwide partaking in the tradition of giving food and money to the less fortunate. Regulatory measures ensure that the independent distribution of iftar meals adheres to guidelines set forth by Dubai's Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department.
In addition to The Giving Family's efforts, other charitable initiatives abound in Dubai during Ramadan.
