text_fieldsJeddah: The Consulate General of India and Goodwill Global Initiative (GGI) are set to jointly organize the first-ever Saudi India festival on Friday, January 19, 2024.
The mega event, under the theme “5K Camaraderie,” will feature Arab – Indian cultural fiesta with performances of Saudi and Indian folk and traditional art forms.
Around 2,000 Saudis and Indians, including hundreds of prominent Saudis of Indian origin, are expected to participate in the festival, which will be held at the premises of the International Indian School in the Al-Rehab district of Jeddah.
Indian Consul General Mohd Shahid Alam launched the brochure of the festival during a ceremony held at the Indian Consulate. The Consul General underscored the significance of the festival in further bolstering the historical and cultural bonds and strategic partnership between India and Saudi Arabia.
He also urged the Indian community’s full support in making the festival, the first of its kind, a resounding success.
The brochure release ceremony was also attended by Consuls Mohammad Hashim (Chancery Project & PIC) and Muhammed Abdul Jaleel (Hajj & Commerce and HOC), GGI President Hassan Cheruppa, Vice Patron Zakariya Biladi, General Secretary Ishaque Poondoli and Vice President Jaleel Kannamangalam.
According to organizers of the event, the festival aims to explore and showcase glimpses of historical, cultural, religious and economic ties as well as civilizational interactions and exchanges between India and Saudi Arabia.
As the theme of the event suggests, ‘camaraderie’ implies mutual trust and intimate friendship, which binds Arabs and Indians with umbilical relations that date back five millennia.
The festival will see the presentation of a historic documentary that will delve deep into the 5000-year-long Arab-Indian roots and routes, covering the ancient Spice Route, Silk Road and Incense Route, reaching the lofty level of a strategic partnership on the world’s second-largest migration corridor encompassing India and the Gulf Cooperation Council States, they said.
