Riyadh: Following the sighting of the crescent Moon, which marks the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Qatar will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr today.

To celebrate Islamic Eid, UAE residents will have a four-day holiday. On Monday, April 24, both the governmental and private sectors as well as schools will reopen.

The Eid Al Fitr vacation will start on Friday, April 21, according to the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. The four days off will be followed by the start of regular business hours on Tuesday, April 25. This holds true for the Kingdom's nonprofit and private sectors.

Eid-ul-Fitr's date changes every year because it depends on when the new moon is visible, although it usually falls on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The sighting of the crescent moon determines the exact day of this festival.

Muslims assemble in mosques or public places to do special prayers known as Eid prayers as part of the celebrations. Along with sharing food with family and friends, they often present gifts. The day is a time for celebration and forgiveness.

The holiday of Eid-ul-Fitr is marked by a number of customs that have stood the test of time, in addition to the special prayers and joyous celebrations. Giving Eid al-Fitr or Zakat al-Fitr, which is a type of charity given to the poor and needy, is one of the most significant. This is typically provided prior to the Eid prayers with the intention that everyone will have enough to eat and enjoy the festival.
