Second wave of Covid-19 affecting pregnant women and children more, say doctors

New Delhi: The second wave of Covid-19 hit the youths, pregnant women, and children increasingly, state doctors from Delhi. As the capital sees an escalation in pandemic cases again, the number of virus infections in the youths, pregnant women, and children is comparatively high, Dr. Suresh Kumar, the medical director of Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, told the news agency ANI.

The pandemic has spread more immediately than last year. In the last week, 20 people were admitted due to the coronavirus. But, today, 170 people were admitted. As per the current situation, more beds are needed for residential treatment, said Dr. Suresh Kumar.

In the first wave, most of the affected were above the age of 60. But, now, the number of affected youths, children, and pregnant women is increasing. Now, we have set up 1000 more beds in our hospital. In this situation, we have no plan to close down the outpatient facilities, added Dr. Suresh Kumar.
