The Gujarat government on Tuesday announced that class 12 board exams would be held from July 1, adhering to all COVID-19 protocol. Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasam said that CM Vijay Rupani took the decision at a high-level meeting in the interest of the 6.83 lakh students in the state.

An official intimated that a detailed exam schedule would be announced in the next few days, expected to be attended by about 1.40 lakh science stream students and 5.43 arts and commerce stream students.

Chudasama said that all SOPs regarding the pandemic would be followed, including limiting the number of students in the examination hall to 20. The government will increase both exam centres and room numbers to accommodate the students, he added. Students will be allotted exam centres closest to their residence to avoid travel, and if a student misses the exam due to COVID, they would be allowed to appear with a new question paper after 25 days, he added.

The government had earlier cancelled board exams for Class 10 students.
