According to State Health Minister Veena George, there have been close to 1.70 lakh new cases of Covid in Kerala over the past four days and the daily positivity rate has reached 45 percent.

A state official told the media on Monday that the reports claiming that there are not enough beds in state-run health facilities are unfounded.

Currently, 20 of the 206 ICU beds at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College are occupied by Covid patients. Other state hospitals have the same issue, as well.

The state's health centers are occupied by 43 percent Covid and non-Covid patients, while the other 40 percent are empty," George said.

According to her, 0.7 percent of the beds with oxygen are occupied, while 0.4 percent of ICU beds are occupied.

957 trained counselors have now been made available to people affected by COVID who need a pep talk. They have now made over 1.25 crore phone calls and offered to counsel.

As a result of the above arrangements, the state has made all arrangements to ensure the distribution of medicines to those in need at their residences. The state is ready to face any eventuality at the moment, and there is nothing to worry about," said George.

A number of reports have come in that a heavy workload is a consequence of a large number of health care professionals becoming positive.

Legislators are also flooding testing centers with samples, forcing these centers to accelerate the testing process and provide results as soon as possible.

One of the other features of the third wave in Kerala is that some people do not conduct the tests and many do it at home using a kit from the medical shops. This means the numbers don't add up to the number of positive cases per day, and social media is being trolled.

Non-Covid people should remain indoors, while positive people can go out, and Congress and BJP politicians are condemning George for her ineffectiveness.
