Thiruvananthapuram: The state intelligence department has initiated inquiry regarding the "Hindu Banks" started by Sangh Parivar based on local administrative institutions along the length of the state. The department has submitted its preliminary report to the home ministry.

The probe is now moving forward, focusing on a native of Venganoor, Thiruvanathapuram, who has been tasked by the RSS to coordinate the registration process of the banks. The activities of Hindu Samrakshana Parivar, Hindu Praja Sangh who are engaged in membership campaigns related to this are also under the scanner.

According to sources, Sangh Parivar has already registered around 100 companies in the state so far, under the guise of 'Nidhi Limited', registered under the Companies Act of the Ministry of Cooperative Affairs.

The new banks, named 'Hindu Bank Nidhi Limited Companies', whose first phase of around 100 units were reportedly registered under ashrams, mutts and temples. As per the norms, three individuals as directors can start a Nidhi company, seven members and a capital of Rs 10 lakhs. Sources say that, Sangh Parivar has directed to add 200 devotees as members within a year.

Sources also say that Parivar is planning to start Nidhi Limited companies involving Hindu traders in their respective local areas. It has also decided to introduce special women unit loans to attract Kudumbasree and Akshaya Sree members into the company.

Meanwhile, as Parivar expects Kudumbasree members, which is an independent body of women led by local leaders of CPIM, the party has taken the activities of Hindu Bank more seriously. The party has decided to counter the activities of the Hindu Bank, and the CPIM state committee has released urgent directives to its district and area secretaries regarding this, say sources.

Through the notice, the party asked its members not to co-operate, become a part or get deceived by any means due to the activities of Hindu Bank, and asserted that this instruction should be taken seriously.

The directive also said that a bank and its services exclusively for the development of Hindus would destroy the country. It asked for the launch of a special campaign at the area level, across the state, against the Sangh Parivar's moves to divide the people communally and achieve their political goals.
