Thiruvananthapuram: Arif Mohammed Khan, the state's governor, and the Left-led administration are engaged in an open fight, and the CPM is looking into every option to challenge him. The CPM is considering the option of raising the matter at the national level, though the party is prepared to battle on the legal front if necessary. The party is considering the possibility of enlisting the aid of more national opposition parties in its conflict with Governor Khan.

The Kerala CPM reported on the situation's current state during political reporting and discussion at the central committee meeting on Saturday. The meeting heard reports about the governor ordering 11 vice-chancellors to resign in response to a Supreme Court ruling and the most recent instance of him revoking his approval of Finance Minister K N Balagopal, NIE reported.

The party leadership flatly rejected Khan's demand that the minister resigns, strongly supporting the state CPM.

According to the CPM, both the VCs' issue and the Governor's withdrawal of pleasure should be addressed by legal and political means. The administration is prepared to act legally if anyone approaches the court citing the governor's expressed displeasure against K N Balagopal.
