Thiruvananthapuram: In the PA Aziz College, Karakulam, in Nedumangad of Kerala’s capital, a charred human body was found on Tuesday morning. The body was noticed inside a hall of a building under construction inside the campus.

Police said that preliminary investigations suggested that the body belonged to the college’s proprietor, Muhammed Abdul Aziz Thaha. His car and mobile phone were recovered from the site, which supported the identification.

It was learned that Thaha had financial issues, such as debts, and lenders were seeking repayment of the same. There were disturbances recently in this regard, and there were witnesses who saw him near the college on Monday.

Thaha hails from Eravipuram of the Kollam district and has been residing in rental accommodation at Peyad in Thiruvananthapuram.

As per known information, college staff noticed a fire in the hall, discovered the body and alerted the Nedumangad police.

For the time being, police suspect suicide and a deep investigation is going on. Forensic experts have been summoned to the location to collect evidence and confirm the circumstances surrounding the case, Matrubhumi reported.
