Ambulance driver sexually abuses COVID positive girl
text_fieldsPathanamthitta: Police arrested an ambulance driver on complaint of sexually molesting a covid positive girl.
The ambulance driver ferrying covid patients allegedly abused the 20-year old girl as she was being taken to a Covid 19 facility at Panthalam during the wee hours of Sunday.
Police identified the accused as Noufal 29, a native of Kayamkulam.
Reports say there were two women patients in the ambulance.
After dropping one of them at the Kozencherry government district hospital, the driver took the other to the first line treatment centre as per instruction of health authorities.
As the ambulance reached a deserted area, the man allegedly molested her.
On reaching the treatment centre, the girl reported the incident and lodged a complaint with the police.
After taking the victim's statement, police took the accused int1o custody.
Police are investigating Noufal's criminal background, as he is an accused in a murder case.
Health workers usually accompany COVID-19 patients while being taken to hospitals or first line treatment centres.
