Fire breaks out in Honda showroom; 18 vehicles destroyed

Malappuram: A major fire broke out in a Honda auto showroom at Perinthalmanna in Malappuram Thursday early morning.

About 18 vehicles that were brought for servicing inside the showroom were completely destroyed.

People in neighbourhood and passerby across the road saw the fire and smoke fuming out of the showroom at around 6 am. Fireforce reached the scene and extinguished the fire before it spread to the surrounding areas.

Short circuit is believed to be the cause of the fire. The vehicles in the ground floor were that gutted by the fire.

New vehicles were kept in the first floor of the showroom. Local people and the fire force managed to shift the new vehicles from there before the fire could spread to the entire floor. It took almost one and a half hour to control the fire.
