A YouTuber from Chennai, Irfan, known for his food vlogs, has found himself in legal trouble after posting a video of his newborn’s birth, where he personally cut the umbilical cord in the operation theatre.

The video, which was posted on his YouTube channel, attracted over 1.4 million views within two days before it was taken down following backlash.

Irfan filmed the delivery of his wife in a private hospital and shared the footage on social media.

The Tamil Nadu health department has filed a police complaint against both the hospital and the doctor involved, citing violations of medical protocols. Authorities are seeking a ban on the doctor who allowed Irfan to perform the act, stating that cutting the umbilical cord is strictly a medical procedure and should not be done by anyone other than qualified professionals.

State health minister Ma Subramanian and Dr. J Rajamoorthy, director of medical services, have confirmed that both Irfan and the hospital have breached the National Medical Commission Act. “It is the duty of the doctor, and not an attendant, to perform such tasks," Dr. Rajamoorthy said, criticizing the hospital’s negligence in the matter.

This isn’t the first time Irfan has been involved in controversy. In May, he took a sex determination test in Dubai and publicly revealed the gender of the baby, which led to an apology after facing criticism from the health department.
