New Delhi: In yet another jibe at his own party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Varun Gandhi on Thursday attacked the central and Uttar Pradesh governments over several issues including unemployment and frequent exam paper leaks.

Criticising police action against protesting candidates of UP teachers' test in Lucknow, BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Sunday asked why recruitments are not taking place when there are vacancies in the government.

Sharing a viral video of police action, Mr Gandhi said these protesters too are Indians and no one is ready to even hear their grievances. He also appealed to the authorities, asking if they would have been able to act in the same manner if their children were part of these protests.

"These children are also 'Son of Mother India', let alone accepting their demands, no one ready to listen to them. Above this, barbaric 'lathi-charge on them. Put your hand on your heart and think they would be treated the same if they were your own children. You have vacancies as well as qualified candidates, so why are recruitments not taking place," his tweet read.

On Saturday, the protestors were holding a candlelight march over alleged irregularities in the 2019 UP Teachers' Entrance Test (UPTET) 2021 and demanding recruitment of teachers on vacant posts in Uttar Pradesh.

On November 28, UPTET 2021 had to be cancelled after the paper was leaked. On December 2, Gandhi questioned the BJP government on job and paper leaks.

"First, there is no government job, if some opportunity comes, then the paper gets leaked, if you give the exam, there are no results for years, then it gets cancelled in some scam. 1.25 crore youths are waiting for Railway Group D exams for two years. The same is with the Army recruitment. How long should the youth of India have to be patient," Gandhi had tweeted.

Meanwhile, BJP`s Rajya Sabha MP Harnath Singh Yadav on Sunday slammed Gandhi for criticizing the Uttar Pradesh government, alleging that he is speaking the language of the Congress.

"Varun Gandhi is speaking the language of the Congress. If there is any morality left in him and if has made up his mind that he will speak against the BJP and wants to go to Congress or anywhere else, then he should immediately resign from the BJP," said Yadav.

Gandhi, the BJP Lok Sabha member from Pilibhit, has been regularly questioning his own party government on several issues from farmers' protests to the Lakhimpur incident and now over irregularities in UPTET.
