UP: Med student detained in Ayodhya over alleged 'bomb-making' notes

Ayodhya: A medical student is being questioned by officials in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya after he allegedly wrote down a formula used to make bombs, sources said on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Sarfaraz, is a first-year Lab Technician student at Rajshri Dashrath Medical College.
According to sources, authorities at the medical college informed the police after Sarfaraz allegedly noted down the bomb-making formula while on night duty.
Sarfaraz, a native of Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur, was living in a rented house next to the medical college in Ayodhya. His landlord described him as a quiet person who mostly kept to himself. He reportedly kept his room closed while studying and was generally seen only when entering or leaving the premises.
The landlord also claimed that a T-shirt bearing the slogan "Jai Shri Ram" was recovered from Sarfaraz's room and that he had been seen wearing it on several occasions.
Police have reportedly recovered objectionable documents from the rented accommodation and sealed the room.
Sources said Sarfaraz has been questioned since Saturday by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the Intelligence Wing and other senior officials. The interrogation is still underway.
The development comes amid heightened scrutiny of alleged threats and suspicious communications. In July, Bengaluru City Police traced the sender of a hoax bomb threat email sent to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) headquarters in the city to Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, police officials said.
Police said the individual was mentally ill and that further investigation was underway.
Following a complaint filed by the Administrative Officer of the ISRO headquarters, Sanjaynagar Police registered a case and launched an investigation.
A special investigation team comprising police officers and staff was formed to trace the sender.
Through technical analysis and examination of digital evidence, the team traced the origin of the email to Ghaziabad, where the suspect was identified and secured.
The accused was identified as Nishanth Tyagi, an unemployed man whom Bengaluru City Police described as "mentally ill".
Police also seized an electronic device allegedly used to send the threatening email.
