Travel in car in certain stretches in Kashmir: Security agencies tell Rahul Gandhi
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The security agencies advised Rahul Gandhi not to walk along certain ‘sensitive stretches’ in Kashmir for Bharat Jodo Yatra.
A detailed plan for the Congress leader’s security has been put in place by the security agencies as the cross country march enters Srinagar on January 27, NDTV reported.
The 52-year-old Congress leader will hoist the national flag in Banihal on January 25 before entering Srinagar via Anantnag two days later.
The security agencies advised the leader to travel in car along certain stretches in Kashmir where terrorist attacks could happen unpredictably.
The compressive security review by security agencies has worked out details about the leader’s night halts the report said.
A senior officer reportedly said that security agencies want only a handful of people to accompany Rahul Gandhi in Srinagar.
The agencies advised the leader to identify people who would be in the inner cordon with him along the Kashmir leg of the march.
Rahul Gandhi is given Z+ category security cover, which means he is guarded by 8/9 commandos round the clock.
Security arrangement for Rahul Gandhi during the march came to fore last month after the Congress alleged breaches in places he covered in the “yatra”.
The Centre countered the charge by stating that Rahul Gandhi himself breached his security cover over 100 times since 2020.
