Mumbai: The two men, suspected to be part of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang, were captured on CCTV as firing gunshots at actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai on Sunday, NDTV reported citing police.

One of them, identified as Vishal, is reportedly having links to Bishnoi gang member Rohit Godara who is notorious for a string of violent crimes.

Vishal is wanted in the murder of Gurugram-based businessman Sachin Munjal in March.

Rohit Godara , who is based overseas, earlier confessed on social media to killing Munjal, according to the report.

The CCTV footage reportedly showed both them carrying backpacks and firing shots towards the actor’s house.

One man was in white t-shirt, black jacket and denim pants while the other was wearing red t-shirt and denim pants.

Before the attack, the two suspects reportedly carried out reconnaissance of the Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartments.

Both men, according to the police, left the city after the attack abandoning their motorcycle, probably a stolen one.

They evaded police by taking a rickshaw to Bandra railway station, according to the report.

Following the incident, Lawrence Bishnoi's brother Anmol Binshnoi claimed responsibility for the attack on social media calling it ‘preview’ as a warning to the actor.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde offered unwavering support to the actor, while announcing a commitment to upholding the rule of law.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) previously said that Khan tops the list of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s 10 targets.

Lawrence Bishnoi began targeting Khan after the actor's infamous 1998 black buck hunting incident, which the gangster claimed to have offended the Bishnoi community.
