'Politician' who assaulted the Noida woman is a serial offender: report

New Delhi: Shrikant Tyagi, who is at large after being accused of assaulting a woman at a residential society in Noida, is known to be facing nine cases from extortion to attempted murder.
Tyagi, who claimed to be a member of BJP's Kisan Morcha, is on the run after being filmed days ago hurling abuses and pushing a woman resident at in Grand Omaxe society in Noida's Sector-93 B, according to NDTV.
Police have started to search for him alongside announcing a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for a tip off about his whereabouts
Shrikant Tyagi's wife was questioned by the police for the second time today.
Tyagi is reportedly facing nine cases including one for assaulting a woman in Noida last year.
He was charged with the first case in 2007 for extortion and in the second case the same year he was charged with Goonda Act.
The third case was registered in 2008 for threatening and culpable homicide, according to NDTV.
He faced cases in 2009, 2015, and 2020 on various counts including one for rioting, causing damage, for beating and threatening, and the seventh case was for assault, threat and attempt to murder, as per the report.
The eighth case he is facing is for misbehaving, threatening and beating woman, while a ninth case is for forgery and using MLA sticker on his car.
Prashant Kumar, Additional Director General of UP police (law and order) said security was provided to the woman complainant and added that efforts are on to arrest Tyagi.
