Muslims must implement population control: BJP MLA in Bihar
text_fieldsNew Delhi: BJP MLA from Bihar’s Bihpur constituency, Engineer Shailendra, stirred up a controversy by stating that Muslims must implement population control. He asserted that he would prefer to lose an election than accept the votes of Muslims.
Shailendra said, “We stand firm in our statement. There is nothing wrong with it. We don’t want Muslim votes,” India TV reported.
Further, he said that when Hindus have one child, Muslims tend to have many and advised the latter to implement population control.
His remarks on Sunday invited widespread criticism. Many parties dubbed his statement as divisive and aimed at polarizing voters. Opposition parties accused the leader of fueling communal tensions and divisiveness while assembly elections were around for the state.
He claimed that the BJP had worked hard for his constituency, providing transformers and road infrastructure over the past decade, but Muslims never voted for him. He also claimed that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) was the only party that had received support from the Muslims.
Then he claimed with confidence that BJP’s NDA would form government in Bihar once again in 2025, with OBC and Hindu communities spearheading the charge to defeat the opposition.
