Manipur: 2 injured in fresh grenade attack near minister’s house

Imphal: Manipur police on Sunday said that two persons, including a CRPF personnel, were injured in a hand grenade explosion near state minister Khemchand Yumnam’s residence in Imphal West district.

According to officials, the incident took place at Yumnam Leikai around 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Two persons on a motorcycle hurled the grenade, which fell a few metres away from the main gate of the minister’s residence, they added.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, identified as West Bengal resident Dinesh Chandra Das, received splinter injuries on his hand, while the other injured person, a woman, suffered splinter injuries on her right foot.

Khemchand Yumnam is the minister of rural development and panchayati raj.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh visited the explosion spot and condemned the attack.
