Mamata Banerjee Condemns "Attack" On Sharad Pawar's house
text_fieldsWest Bengal CM condemned today's "attack" on the residence of Sharad Pawar, leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
More than 100 strike-takers from Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) disrupted a protest outside Pawar's home in Mumbai on Friday afternoon, claiming he had not resolved their issues.
Despite attempts by his daughter and Lok Sabha member Supriya Sule to placate the protesters, the Police eventually took them away and registered a case against 107 people.
"I condemn the attack on the residence of one of India's senior-most public figures, Sharad Pawar @PawarSpeaks and welcome the statement of @CMOMaharashtra for stern action against the offenders," CM tweeted.
In response to the protest, Mr Pawar said that the agitated workers had been led astray by a "misguided leadership".
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has directed the police to take strict action against the perpetrators of the "attack". The leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, an alliance representing Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress, have condemned the incident.
