Disputed Indian mosques must be restored to Hindus: pro-RSS Muslim body
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), a pro-RSS Muslim outfit, demanded that all the disputed religious sites like Kashi, Mathura and Sambhal must be restored to the Hindu community since they are historical places of worship. The organisation also added that all religious disputes must be resolved through dialogue, Asian News International reported.
The MRM released a statement that appealed to Indian Muslims to respect the statement made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for the welfare of 142 core Indians, thus demonstrating a magnanimous approach towards keeping India on the path of progress.
National Convener of MRM, Shahid Sayeed, said that though the courts are paramount, disputes on religious sites must be resolved through dialogue, which is ideal. He said that this approach fosters unity, harmony, brotherhood and reconciliation while eliminating enmity. The organisation calls for an "out-of-court settlement" wherever legal disputes are ongoing since it is a hallmark of any civilised society, Sayeed said.
The view of MRM on most issues concerning Muslims run counter to the mainstream views as vouched for by its website. Regarding the building of the Ram Temple, for example, it says, "The Muslim Rashtriya Manch ran several campaigns in support of the construction of the Ram temple. These campaigns were organized to make the society aware, to increase support, and to garner support for the construction of Ram Mandir."
MRM said any mosque where broken idols are found or any locations where historical, social or direct evidence of being temples are found they are impure for prayers as per Islamic principles. Prayers offered in such places are invalid, and there are references in Quran and Hadith. It also added that building mosques on forcefully occupied land contradicts Islamic teachings.
MRM, established in 2002 purportedly for dialogue between Muslims and the RSS, is said to have seen an uptick in its membership base since Modi assumed office,
The MRM made resolutions which proposed handing over disputed worship sites to the Hindu community. National convenors, state convenors and co-convenors of the organisation supported the resolutions.
