New Delhi: The BJP has reached out to actor Vijay offering support just as the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader is wallowing up in crisis following Karur stampede, NDTV reported.

It is reported that the BJP is aiming at leveraging the actor’s massive fan base to better its prospects in the upcoming assembly polls.

As the Karur tragedy nipped the new party’s enthusiasm, a senior BJP leader told the TVK leadership that Vijay would not be alone if he was unfairly targeted by the ruling DMK.

While urging Vijay to keep patience, the BJP leadership made it clear that it also wanted to ‘corner’ DMK, according to the report citing sources.

Vijay, who is in uncertainly over his future political actions, reportedly thanked political leaders who threw their weight behind him as he faced huge criticism after the tragedy.

The Congress leadership also reached out to the TVK in what appears to be its attempt to beat the BJP to it in getting the new party’s support.

Both national parties are looking forward to make an impact in the state politics largely dominated by DMK and AIADMK.

Political analysts believe that TVK’s massive entry could reshape Tamil politics with Vijay becoming a major force outside DMK and AIADMK.

However , Vijay had earlier announced that the TVK would contest solo in the assembly polls in 2026.

But many believe that the party’s setback after Karur tragedy could reshape his strategies.

Meanwhile, former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai met his party’s central leadership and briefed on Karur stampede and possible fallout.

Shortly after the stampede on September 27, the BJP sent its delegation to Karur alongside accusing the DMK government of mismanagement that led to death of 41 people.

The BJP-led NDA made it clear that the ruling DMK could not shy away from the responsibility as it is governing the state.
