New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will officially visit Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina from August 22 to 27 in his first visit to South America, IANS reported citing the Ministry of External Affairs.

The ministry said on Friday that in addition to bilateral engagements with his counterparts of the mentioned nations, he would meet the top leaders there.

Paraguay is to be visited by an Indian foreign minister for the first time. There, Jaishankar will inaugurate the premises of the newly-opened Indian Embassy, which started functioning in January 2022.

In Brazil and Argentina, India's strategic partners, he will co-chair the Joint Commission Meetings (JCM) to review the entire gamut of the bilateral relationships in diverse fields and discuss regional and global issues of common interest, the external ministry said.

Further, the minister would meet business leaders and the Indian communities in all the mentioned countries.

Also, in Brazil, he will deliver an address at the Rio Branco Institute.

"External Affairs Minister's visit to these three countries will provide an opportunity to continue the ongoing high-level engagements with our partners in LAC, explore new areas of cooperation in the post-pandemic era, and exchange views on issues of bilateral and international significance," the ministry.
